The Audi slogan “Vorsprung durch Technik” is marking its 50 year anniversary this year. Even half a century after its inception, the world-famous slogan of the Four Rings hasn’t lost any of its appeal. And each year, there’s a little bit more history behind it. On this momentous occasion, the company is looking back at a plethora of innovations over five decades that demonstrate why “Vorsprung durch Technik” isn’t just a slogan for Audi – it’s also an expression of the company’s future-oriented approach.

Virtual time travel in an Audi e-tron: At the Salzburg Festival 2021, Audi is linking tradition with innovation and inviting all festival visitors and interested parties on an eventful drive through this history of the festival. In the back of an Audi e-tron, guests approach several locations that played a particular role in the festival’s development. That journey utilizes technology that was originally advanced by Audi and the company holoride and that carries passengers off to three-dimensional worlds via virtual reality glasses while integrating vehicle movements into the experience in real time. About 1,000 experience drives are planned during the course of the festival. In the process, Audi is retrospectively celebrating its 25th anniversary as a leading sponsor and the 100th anniversary of the Salzburg Festival after these rides were canceled last year.

The Audi RS 3 prototype represents the epitome of unadulterated driving dynamics. This is Audi’s first vehicle to feature the RS Torque Splitter, which distributes drive torque between the rear wheels in a fully variable manner. This results in optimal stability and maximum agility – especially when cornering at high speeds.

At mid-year 2021, Audi Sport customer racing has reached an important milestone: The 138th GT3 model of the second-generation Audi R8 LMS, which has been marketed since the end of 2015, has been built. The successful predecessor model, which was available from 2009 to 2015, had been produced in a series of 137 units. In a global GT3 market of ten car manufacturers in total, Audi Sport is thus making a clear statement.
